World Water Day is set aside globally for recognition of water systems and how they have evolved with time. This year’s theme, ‘Water for cities; responding to the urban challenge,’ aims to spotlight and encourage governments, organisations, communities and even individuals to take charge in addressing water management issues.

In Kenya, the government has put in place the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) to oversee matters water. NCWSC was incorporated in December 2003 under the Companies Act, Cap 486. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the City Council of Nairobi (CCN).  Its headquarters is situated along Kampala road, Industrial area. It also has five regional centres at Karen- Western, Nairobi Dam- Southern, Eastleigh- Northern, Kariobangi- Eastern and Enterprise Centre- Enterprise road.
